About me

Having always had a keen interest in personal finance and investing, the next natural step was to become a regulated Financial Adviser, which I did in 2006. Having a strong interest in stock markets and long-term investing helps me to explain these concepts clearly to my customers.

I have also worked as a Financial Services Compliance Consultant since 2006, a role which few other advisers have experience of. This helps ensure that the advice I give my customers fully takes account the latest rules and principles from the Financial Conduct Authority.

My own philosophy on saving and investing

With my own pension and stocks and shares ISA, I look to the long-term. Some years will be good and some will be bad. 2022 was a poor year, and if I only looked at that 12-month period I would be disappointed. However, I don't plan to get the money out for at least 10 years, and when the markets have just fallen it can actually be helpful for long-term investing. The low prices allow my monthly payments to buy more units in the funds, while they are cheaper. (A concept knows as Pound Cost Averaging).

This is an investment principle that I know works well, and I like to get my customers to understand these concepts and follow a similar type of plan for themselves.

My philosophy could be simply summarised as "Keep calm and carry on with the original plan. Put the short-term distractions aside and above all stay invested".

Please see my Overview for Customers document (click the image to open) for further details. This explains how taking advice could make you better off. It also details the important principles that I follow with investment funds.
